AFTER BEFORE
For a business casual look we transform her from drab to fab. A simple blouse in the correct color for her skin tone adds interest to the viewer’s eye. Dark pants minimize wide hips. Here we see a proportioned hourglass shape but with the clothes she’s wearing you can’t tell what shape she is.  The plaid stripes make her torso look boxy and bigger than it is. With her two tone jeans on she looks skeletal.
A much more appropriate look for her body type and age. Now she looks professional, confident and prettier.  The dark skirt minimizes her hips and brings her body into a classic hourglass proportion. Inappropriate outfit for business settings and for her body type. She is triangle shaped yet she wears clothes that make her look rectangular, boxy and shapeless. A see through top reflects bad taste.
A shorter jacket, coordinated and contrasted tee shirt on top give her proportion a longer, slender look.  Black pants visually elongate her legs. She looks pulled together, still true to her personal style and elegant at the same time. One color from head to toe is never flattering in casual wear.  The bulkiness of the fabric and silhouette make her look larger.  First impressions = sloppy.
While keeping a youthful look the emphasis is now on pretty rather than sexy. This look is much more acceptable for work events and social situations. Under-dressing can work against you in many situations. Even if your shape is great you can show it off better with clothes that flatter and enhance rather than distract and confuse the viewer.
Her outfit is in proportion to her triangle shape. Colors are well suited to her skin tone. Hair style flatters her facial shape. Everything about her is age appropriate. Incorrect styling for her triangle shape. Pegged pants make her look odd shaped. Shoes are the wrong color and style for this outfit. Belt not matched. Her hairstyle does not flatter her.
A very flattering hairstyle. Jacket style, color and texture much more appropiate to her body line and proportion. Blouse color perfect for her warm coloring. Pants cut and fit much more flattering. Shoes are the appropriate styling for her height and they match the pant style superbly! Hair is too long and shapeless. Print and color of blouse are not suited to her proportion and coloring. Trousers are the wrong style for her body shape and the shoes are too chunky making her appear heavier legged and shorter.
For an hourglass figure the key is to keep outfits proportioned and fitted. Because she has a shorter torso the vertical lines of trim on her jacket are used to create a longer looking length to her midriff. Her skirt and top are now in proportion and her hose and shoes are congruent with her overall look. Her hairstyle has been altered slightly to flatter her facial shape. Hair style not suited to her facial shape. Oversized sweater set is too big and the wrong cut and color for her. Her hourglass figure is not enhanced by the shapelessness of the outfit. The shoes are not appropriate for the outfit and do not flatter.
Proper haircut, style and color for her facial shape. Suit jacket both elongates and slims her and is the appropriate color for her skin tone. Knee length skirt style is perfect for her body proportion and fit. Shoes and hose coordinate well and are flattering to her shape. Jacket is the wrong style and color for her. Because she is long legged and rectangle shaped she needs waist definition and proportion.  Pants have a front pleat making her torso appear bigger.  Her shoes do not match her outfit.
Jacket in proportion to her body type, her blouse is the correct color. Collar length is perfect and pants fit better and are well coordinated. The jacket top and skirt are all incorrectly proportioned to her body type. Accessories mismatched and out of proportion as well.
Right fit, right color, right proportion. Here, again, the vertical pattern in her jacket serves as a slimming effect. Contrast colors used this way can successfully shape a figure to a more flattering proportion. The skirt shape is ideal for her figure. It serves to draw the eye downward giving her a longer, slimmer look. With a round shaped figure the key is to create vertical lines to enhance height and diminish width.
A more slimming silhouette, proper coloring and vertical lines to add height. Baggy styling and drape of the lines adds to her large proportion. Shoes mismatched.
Pants and jacket coordinate to her body style. Vertical lines enhance her height. All over prints and baggy styling cover up her hourglass figure.
